Gavin Hosford’s passion for improving the life chances of those young people who are among the most challenging and hard to reach, his resilience, and uncompromising drive, have led to over 30 years of experience in a number of settings – including mainstream Secondary, Special, FE, PRU and Alternative Provision.
 
A results-driven and accomplished Consultant, Interim and Permanent Headteacher/Principal with a proven track record of success in educational leadership.

Gavin has served as an Interim and Permanent Headteacher / Principal, overseeing all aspects of school
management and operations.  Demonstrable skills in turning around underperforming schools, leading to significant academic progress and positive cultural change.

He is highly skilled in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Inclusion, Behaviour and Culture and passionate about fostering inclusive education and achieving outstanding outcomes for the most marginalised and disenfranchised students.

Adept at team building, fostering people and culture change, and managing organisational transformations, Gavin has been instrumental in implementing a wide range of strategies and practices for team building, resulting in high-performing and motivated staff members.  Furthermore he has led successful initiatives in building positive cultures, fostering a safe and supportive learning community.

Gavin has utilised his extensive expertise to mentor and develop teachers, empowering them to excel in their roles and facilitated a number of professional development workshops as a key-note speaker, promoting effective teaching strategies, positive mental health and well-being, and educational leadership.

In 2019 Gavin was recognised as a Fellow of the RSA, a distinction highlighting exceptional contributions to societal progress.

Gavin is currently a Visiting Fellow for Ambition Institute and Teach First, delivering the National Professional Qualification for Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC), as well as being the Special School representative on the DfE / OFSTED Headteacher Reference Group for Yorkshire and
Humberside.
